Women and the gaming indulgence

Joystick or no joystick women are amazing gamers.

According to Karl Grammer of the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute of Urban Ethology in Vienna, "Women chat happily, send sexually explicit signals and encourage the man's attention, even if they have absolutely no interest in him," said in a conclusion of a social experiment conducted at the university not too long ago.
He went on to say "You can predict male behaviour from female behaviour, but not the other way round,".

This research was conducted to study several courtship messages- for women, these included head-tossing, hair-flipping, smiling and fiddling with their clothes, eye rolling - as well as rejection signals. Im not going to paste the entire study here, but I was amazed to find out that there is actually scientifically inclined evidence (only reinforcing my practical belief) of the way women are wired, naturally, to play the game.

I mean, lets look at some practical examples in our day to day lives- a woman ( friend, colleague, aquaintance) that you kinda like bumps into you on the street after a long time. You are surprised to see her so you decide to take her for coffee. You both leave the coffee shop with your sanity intact, she says she'll call you to hook up another time. She actually does call, you hook up for dinner, and have a great time with her. She passes flirtatious signals at you, and you in all your unintelligent glory let them seep through like a thatched roof. You drop her home, wish her a pleasant week and ask to hook up on the weekend. She whole heartedly agrees. But then you never hear from her for as long as you cannot remember.

Deja Vu guys? I thought so. Im sure most of us guys have experienced a scenario of this sort in some way or the other. With some of us, the flirtatious vibes are seen as teasing come-on's that have got to mean something. With others its reason enough to say they are in love. Whatever your degree of immunity for the 'game', you'll have to admit it dudes.. these chicks know what they are doing. Or do they?

I believe much of the play rules for the games women play are borne out of insecurties. Many are in search of recognition and attention, their birth right gifts for being women. Hence they try and extract it as much as possible(flirtatious signals automatically induce compliments and attention from us imbicil males), play the waiting game and then see what happens. In the process, the wrong signals are sent out and their actual intentions are never really revealed. Of course, I will not say that this is true with every woman, as I have seen and known some genuinely true female characters that have inspired me. The problem is they are either married, or dead.

Yo ladies- wassup with that? I think men are very simple beings. Dont burn yourselves trying to play the game, cos sooner or later you'll realize youre running out of players.

Super Bollywood

Last Friday Aishwarya Rai and Abishek Bachan, touted as India's most powerful bollywood couple, tied the knot- and sent the rest of India into a suffocating media frenzy.

Why is it that Indian masses place precedence of such magnitude on people that pretend to be someone else on screen? Does it help them see their own lives as being projected on the big screen?

Ive never been a huge fan of Bollywood except for a few classics like aandaz, devdas and Kabi Khabie.. and Im sure alot of you realistically inclined, dance routine repulsed, original script loving, people would agree with me when I say- Bollywood is NOT original.

I mean, look at some of the major movie critic criteria being tossed out the window in most of these films:
Have you ever noticed that nothing is ever too tight for Madhuri Dixit? or for those of you who like healthy living, dont look far cos even villiage girls that live among cows and sheep have perfect skin and teeth in bollywood... or if youve ever noticed a glass pane somewhere, someone will be thrown through it before long. Oh yeah and the classic.. The main characters cannot fall in love until they have completed a full dance routine in the rain and behind trees.

I laugh at some of the far fetched rationale some of my Indian friends employ such as "Its what makes us unique", or " We are festive people by nature and like color and drama". OMG, how about "We have no creative thinking ability, so we copy hollywood scripts and simply add crying and dance to it". Of course there is some original movie making talent in the country and examples such as Mira Nair and Satyajit Ray should inspire up and coming directors and script writers to create original stuff.

Whats your take?

White sharks encroaching the arabian gulf

ok, just so you know- I am not white, I am not married and I come from a family of 5.

True real life account -I recently bumped into an old friend who used to work for an engineering company in downtown kuwait. He was the company's senior contracts administrator making around 700 KD/month and was pretty satisfied with his job until a pleasurable young american chap applied for the same job at the company. FYI, my friend graduated from Osmania university(Hyderabad) with an MBa in Finance and had almost 8 years of experience prior to getting that job. Well, as it works out, he was asked to find another job within 3 months or he'd have to fly back to India. As you may already perceive where I am going, you many not be surprised to know that the American replaced him and is making almost double that monthly salary, as I was told by my friend.

Shocked? Well dont be. Since the americans liberated Kuwait in 1991, there has been a major influx of american and European citizens coming to Kuwait on commercial contracts for engineering and oil extraction projects. But it is only recently that more and more western citizens are finding consignments in the private sector as well. This is of course, good for Kuwait's economy as it promotes diversity, creativity and democracy. Or does it? People like my friend live all over Kuwait, and they are not only from India but from nations such as the Philippines, Egypt, Pakistan, and Iran- where output of qualified educated professionals is quite high. Yet, when a white skinned American, british or australian national comes through, qualified or not, Kuwaiti Management unbolts their HR processes to suit any kind of need.

Lets look at some of the private schools here in Kuwait such as the British school of Kuwait or the American school of Kuwait. Through careful and informed communal research, I found out that an egyptian teacher with a Master's degree in Education would be paid nearly 1/3 rd of the salary that a white american or british teacher would for the same qualification and experience. Now, many HR managers and decision makers argue that salaries and fringe benefits are provided to westerners because it is consummate with standards of living in their respective countries. Im sorry to say, but that is a load of horsehit. For one, they are living in Kuwait not in their countries when they are paid, which means they fall under the standards of living for Kuwait. Secondly, they are not the only breed of human beings that have houses to build, families to support and loans to pay off.

Don’t misunderstand me- I’m not distressed or anything cos I make a decent income and have never experienced discrimination of that kind here in Kuwait, but when I personally witness people who have been "intentionally"(I say intentionally because there are of course deserving westerners that need to replace others in some cases) snubbed because a westerner replaced them at their jobs, it boils me to the core.

Lets look a little more in-depth into why Kuwaiti Management particularly favours white skinned americans and europeans. Is it simply racial discrimination, or is there more to it? I believe it is all linked to the corrupt dealings between the Kuwaiti, Saudi and American governments. Executives from super conglomerates such as Halliburton , KBR and even the American Army here in Kuwait are swindling millions through bribes received as they peddle influence and try to return favors to some of the most corrupt business and political families of Kuwait, who today are stealing hundreds of millions of dollars from, believe it or not, American tax payers back in the states. Far fetched? I think not. What’s funny is that even many non-Anglo Americans and naturalized American citizens are discriminated at the US embassy and other workplaces due to their ethnic and religious backgrounds.

On the positive side however, there is change. Now that India’s economy is growing at almost 8% per year (second only to china), more and more Kuwaiti startups and established enterprises are starting to realize that the best talent and expertise has always been in Kuwait. It’s now only a matter of tapping into it. There are more Indians, Philipinos and Iranians being employed in senior management and administration positions and being paid the salaries they deserve.

Give us an equal playing field is all we saying.
